Thanks to everyone who has shown interest in featuring your writing in Wine Stories. Based on feedback from authors, here are Wine Stories questions and clarifications regarding submissions and content. Please read the information below, then view Submission Guidelines for more information, to ask questions and to upload stories.
When is the submission due date for March publication? February 25th, 5pm.
Is Wine Stories a contest? Not at this time. It is a showcase for writers of fiction and personal experience stories to display their work.
Must stories be specifically about wine, wine tasting or other wine-related topic? No, stories can be about any topic. However, wine should be mentioned. A fictional short story about a couple going on a dinner date would be about the couple and their relationship, but an interesting discussion regarding which wine to order while at the restaurant would qualify the story for consideration. Using wine as a catalyst to move a story line forward opens up a lot of possibilities.
Must authors demonstrate wine expertise in the story? Absolutely not. We’re looking for entertaining fiction and personal stories, not technical papers.
Must submissions be original works? Authors should submit their own work and must own publication rights for what they submit. Stories may be previously-published.
Are stories copyright protected? Authors may provide specific copyright protection language, otherwise “all rights reserved” will be added to each story.
What happens to stories not chosen for immediate publication? Stories not chosen for publication in the next monthly selection may be scheduled for publication in the future, with the author’s permission.
May I submit more than one story? Authors may submit up to three stories per month, though only one story is selected for publication each month.
