Our tasting of 2017 Pride Mountain Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon required patience as the wine matured for several years in our cellar. The wine did not disappoint, offering fresh aromas and pleasing flavors.

Description: Blend of 92.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, 2.5% Merlot.
Vineyards: 53% Napa Valley and 47% Sonoma County – estate vineyard extends into both counties.
Production: Fermented in stainless steel, aged in French Oak. 5,848 cases.
Reviews: Scores of 90 to 93. Drink now through 2032.

Producer: Pride Mountain Vineyards is located in the mountains of northern Napa and Sonoma Counties, with Santa Rosa to the west and St. Helena to the east. Elevation is approximately 2,100 feet, providing concentrated wine grapes that produce bold wines. Pride produces mostly reds – primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. They also produce an oaky style Chardonnay.

This wine is for those who enjoy: Bold red wines best paired with hearty dishes.
Appearance: Deep purple.
Aroma: Blackberry, black truffle, earth notes.
Taste: Cassis, leather, black cherry, chocolate.
Finish: Balanced and smooth.
Pairing: Hearty meat dishes, pasta with beef sauces, chocolate desserts.

Visiting This Winery

Pride Mountain Vineyards is easy to get to but does require some mountain driving, whether you’re coming from Santa Rosa or St. Helena. The experience is worth the trip and Pride is one of the few Napa Valley or Sonoma County wineries where we recommend the cave tour.
