Tasting room hours: 11:00am to 5:30pm daily.
Why go: Excellent wines across a wide range – premium white, blush and red. Stand-alone tasting room (not at winery). Great for those who love Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Elizabeth Spencer Winery is a premium producer of wines made from grapes sourced throughout Northern California, primarily Mendocino County, Sonoma County and Napa Valley. The tasting room is located in the old Rutherford post office on the southeast corner of Highway 29 and Rutherford Road (across from Rutherford Grill). The interior of this restored brick cottage (photo above) contains a stand-up tasting bar that serves 6 to 8 people comfortably. Three additional tasting spaces are right outside.
- The Courtyard is an outdoor area with (mostly) covered tables – a favorite spot on warm summer afternoons.
- The Studio is a tasting room across the small parking lot, a former art studio with a small bar and several tables (photo below). An outdoor seating area (photo right) has been added for tastings and events.
- The Cottage is another tasting room perfect for private tastings and small events.
Elizabeth Spencer can get busy on weekends, but there always seems to be at least one more table available in the courtyard. Cold or rainy weather? Try the Studio. Service is excellent and unpretentious. Several private tastings are offered, click here for information and reservations.
