It’s National Croissant Day – a day to celebrate the tasty pastry that originated in Austria and made its way to France when Marie Antionette married into the French royal family.
The croissant consists of flaky, yeast-raised dough rolled together in layers. Its crescent shape is said to have been created by Austrian bakers when Ottoman conquerors ruled the country and resembles the crescent found in the Turkish flag.
Celebrated annually on January 30th.
Enjoy National Croissant Day!

National Grill Cheese Sandwich Day celebrates one of America’s classic lunch-time creations that can be prepared in hundreds of ways. Although warm cheese and bread have been enjoyed worldwide for hundreds of years, the closed-face sandwich we enjoy today is believed to have caught on about one hundred years ago. Regardless of which cheese – or combination of cheeses – you use, and what type of bread, the grilled cheese sandwich is perfect by itself or with your favorite soup.
National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day is celebrated annually on April 12th.

National Macaroni Day celebrates the most common form of short, elbow-shaped pasta enjoyed in the United States. The origin of macaroni is not clear. Like many forms of pasta, the general combination of ingredients is believed to have been developed in China. Macaroni similar to the form we know today surfaced in Naples, Italy, in the 1400’s. The macaroni was tubular as we enjoy it now, but the length of each noodle was typically longer.
Pasta is one of the most versatile dishes served at home or in restaurants. A wide range of sauces and spices makes each dish unique as the pasta absorbs the flavor. Enjoy your favorite macaroni recipe today!
National Macaroni Day is celebrated in the United States each year on July 7th.
