After decades of experimentation and importation of European root stocks, primarily from France, Malbec became the featured grape varietal in Argentina and its Malbec wines became known worldwide for superior quality. Malbec World Day became an official holiday in 2011, sponsored by Wines Of Argentina. It is now celebrated globally wherever Malbec wine is produced and enjoyed.
