Our Featured Destination for June is the sweet heaven that is the Jelly Belly Candy Company visitors center in Fairfield, California. You’ve probably seen their famous jelly beans and other products in retail outlets like Wal-Mart, Target and thousands of grocery stores and specialty shops across America.

If you are visiting Northern California wine country, Jelly Belly’s visitor center is a fun side trip. From downtown Napa, get on Highway 12 (Jameson Canyon Road) and drive east about 15 to 20 minutes to adjacent Fairfield (see map below). There are helpful signs that guide you to the parking lot after exiting Highway 12.

When you get there, you’ll find plenty to do! Enter through the west entrance (photo above) and you are in the colorful Jelly Belly Café (photo below), where you can purchase lunch, ice cream, snacks, or just take a rest in between adventures.

Off the Café you’ll find the Caseload Sale Room (buy in bulk!) and the Chocolate Shoppe on the right. Walk straight through the Café and you’ll arrive in the main retail room, a great place to find everything Jelly Belly. Buy pre-packaged sweets or fill your own custom bag from dispensers offering every flavor of jelly bean imaginable. You’ll even find some interesting beverage mixers (photo below).

Since you’re in Wine Country, check out the Chocolate & Wine Experience on the 2nd floor. Jelly Belly’s Chocolate Shoppe pairs local wines with several excellent chocolates. Current offerings include wines from Back Road Vines, Wooden Valley Winery, and Vezér Family Vineyard. These and other fine wineries have tasting rooms worth a visit about five minutes north in beautiful Suisun Valley (pronounced Seh-Soon).

Finally, if you’re interested in how Jelly Belly produces their tasty sweets, sign up for the self-guided tour. It includes a video overview and you can walk the factory observation path at your own pace.

Check out the Jelly Belly Candy Company visitor center web site for more information and current operating hours.
