Our February Featured Wine Destination is LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards in Lodi, California. Drive through vineyard country north of Lodi and you’ll find LangeTwins easily on Jahant Road. Enter the main gate and look right, you’ll see gigantic wine storage tanks – lots of them. LangeTwins is a major producer of wines bearing their own label, private label wines and bulk wine. While the production facility looks massive, visitors are treated to ample parking around back and a warm and friendly tasting room.
My recent visit to LangeTwins was on a rainy January afternoon and, luckily for me, I was able to step right up to the tasting bar without a wait. On a warm summer day I would have chosen a seat outside, as there are many seating options under umbrellas lining the sidewalk between the parking lot and tasting room.
Tasting fees are $10 (applied to purchase when you buy two or more bottles) and flights of red or white are offered. Lodi is old vine Zinfandel country, but you’ll find most of the usual California varietals at Langetwins: Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rosé, Merlot, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and more. Wines served in the tasting room retail between $15 and $60.
Check out LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards on your next visit to Lodi. You’ll find the atmosphere and the wines well worth the trip.
