Our December featured wine destination is unique, easy to get to, and can never be closed by government order – because there’s no place like home. Food and drink are available. There’s a warm bed, good company and a healthy dose of holiday spirit. Whatever you celebrate in December, there are opportunities to set the troubles of the world aside and focus on something to be grateful for – at least for a moment.

I realize this idyllic portrait of the perfect home is not universally available to everyone. Those who for any reason find themselves without shelter, unable to work and pay bills, serving as soldiers overseas, and anyone unable to travel will have to find home wherever they are, even if it exists only in their heart.

And maybe that’s the secret. No matter what happens outside, the spirit of home is inside us, all we have to do is go there. Then share.
