National Macaroni Day celebrates the most common form of short, elbow-shaped  pasta frequently enjoyed in the United States. The origin of macaroni is not clear. Like many forms of pasta, the general combination of ingredients is believed to have been developed in China. Macaroni similar to the form we know today surfaced in Naples, Italy, in the 1400’s. The macaroni was tubular as we enjoy it now, but the length of each noodle was typically longer.

Pasta is one of the most versatile dishes served at home or in restaurants. A wide range of sauces and spices makes each dish unique as the pasta absorbs the flavor. Enjoy your favorite macaroni recipe today!

National Macaroni Day is celebrated in the United States each year on July 7th.
