Signorello 16Feb2014 2

A year ago I shared a wine adventure at Signorello Estate in Napa Valley’s Stags Leap district with a few notes about their 2011 Seta white wine and 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.  This past weekend I stopped in again to sit on the terrace by their infinity edge pool, sip, and enjoy the view of Napa Valley below (note: terrace seating for tastings is reserved for Signorello’s Bacchus Society members only).  Appreciation for two Signorello red blends came out of this tasting – their 2011 Metá and 2010 Uvaggio.

Signorello Uvaggio and Meta red wine blendsMetá (“half”) is an even share of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Syrah aged in barrels of 50% new French oak.  A rich blend that could easily age several years, though I found it opened up nicely after letting it breathe for just a half hour.

Uvaggio (“blended wine”) turned out to be my big hit of the winter wine adventure season.  If you’re looking for a smooth-sipping red with a big bold finish, this is it.  Uvaggio is an excellent blend of my three favorite reds:  34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Franc.  Unfortunately, Signorello produced just 94 cases and Uvaggio is sold only to their wine club (Bacchus Society) members.

Stop in at the tasting room and try Signorello’s full bodied red blends.  You may find yourself joining an excellent wine club.
