We end September in mid-harvest with an excellent Napa Valley Wine Of The Week – 2013 Swanson Vineyards Merlot. One of my favorites featuring this varietal, Swanson adds a touch Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot to create a wine that is built to reach its peak in seven to ten years.

A deep, rich wine even now, there are plums and cherry to enjoy with aggressive tannins and gentle spice that is sure to become bolder over time. Great for sipping or pairing with your favorite foods. Aged eighteen months in French and American oak, 14.6% alcohol. 6,500 cases produced.
