Our Wine Of The Week is 2014 Round Pond Estate – The Vow, an ultra-premium Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Round Pond’s Gravel Series takes grapes from their most prized vineyard locations and produces some of the finest red wines from the Rutherford AVA.

The Vow is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that comes across a wee bit flowery and herbal compared to the leather and cocoa so prominant in other Round Pond reds. Hint of red berries and “Rutherford dust” round it out nicely. Scores from most wine critics are 91 to 92, retails a little north of $200.

The Round Pond Estate tasting room off Rutherford Road (map below) is a favorite venue with comfortable indoor seating and a large patio that offers excellent views of surrounding vineyards. Vast majority of wines are premium reds, their Sauvignon Blanc ranks among the best in Napa Valley. Reservations required.
