Our Wine Of The Week is 2014 Shadowbrook Winery Syrah San Francisco Bay. The grapes that go into this wine actually come from near Mount Diablo in the East Bay town of Walnut Creek, about 45 minutes east of San Francisco. Mount Diablo is a substantial terrain feature and its initial creation and effects on weather provide soil and temperatures that support quality growing.
Shadowbrook produces primary red wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Petite Sirah, Merlot and several blends. They also offer a Chardonnay and a Rosé ($28 each retail). The Shadowbrook Winery Syrah tasted was a gift from a local Wine Adventurer and proved to be a splendid sip on its own or a good pair with local foods.
Shadowbrook Winery is located in Walnut Creek, CA (see map), about 45 minutes southeast of downtown Napa and 30 minutes east of Oakland. Reservations are required for tastings, which are available primarily on weekends, Friday – Sunday. To make a reservation, click here: Visit Us.
