Our Wine Of The Week is 2016 Basilica Cafaggio Chianti Classico Riserva, a highly rated and reasonably priced Tuscan red wine. A true Chianti, Cafaggio grows and produces this red wine in the Conca d’Oro (Golden Basin) region, where Sangiovese vines flourish. Rich in color and bold on the palate, Chianti Classico is great for sipping and an excellent pair for hearty meat and pasta dishes. You’ll experience plum, black cherry, and a hint of chocolate in each sip.
The 2016 vintage is still on the young side and is expected to release more of its latent quality in 2023 and the 10 to 15 years beyond. Available in retail around $20.
Basilica Cafaggio is located in Greve-In-Chianti, between Florence and Sienna in central Italy, where they produce a range of fine red wines featuring the best varietals of the region.
Cheers!
