2017 Attems Pinot Grigio FruiliOur Wine Of The Week is again from the Friuli region in the northeast corner of Italy – 2017 Attems Pinot Grigio (see our Ruffino pick from August 18th).

The Friuli region (see map below) is known for gravel and sandstone soils that produce unique, full bodied wines with balanced minerality. The steady flow of cool breezes from the nearby Adriatic Sea provide long, steady growing seasons. The 2017 Attem Pinot Grigio can be well chilled as a summer sip or paired with hearty summer foods. Alcohol is about 12.5%, retails from $13 to $15 in many wine shops, grocery and warehouse stores.

Attem is one of many Italian fine wine estates owned by the Florence-based Frescobaldi family. The family has been in the wine business over 700 years.
