Our Wine Of The Week is 2017 Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley Chardonnay. If you’re stocking up on summer wines to pair with food, this is a great choice. 2017 was an extraordinary growing year, with alternating periods of warmth and rain that kept grapes on the vine long enough to reach their maximum potential.
This Napa Valley Chardonnay is primarily barrel fermented (90%) in French oak, with a contribution from stainless steel that rounds out the influences of the barrels. There are hints of vanilla balanced by light colored stone fruits that produce a wine that is refreshing while remaining full bodied for the varietal. Alcohol is 14.1%.
Duckhorn Vineyards produces a wide range of wine varietals at mid to premium prices. The Napa Valley Chardonnay is not difficult to find in retail at around $30 to $36 per bottle.
Duckhorn Vineyards operates a Napa Valley tasting room, which is currently closed due to state-wide health restrictions. Once available, it is a great stop in the St. Helena area.
Cheers!
