Wine Of The Week - 2020 Wooden Valley Lanza Pinot Grigio Suisun Valley

Our Wine Of The Week is 2020 Wooden Valley Lanza Pinot Grigio Suisun Valley from the Suisun Valley AVA in northeast Solano County (18 miles east of downtown Napa). Like so many small lot wines produced in the area that are not available in retail, this refreshing Pinot Grigio is – unfortunately – currently available only to Wooden Valley Winery club members until club distribution is completed and available inventory can be determined (disclosure: I’m a member). Regardless, this tasty, locally-grown Pinot Grigio deserves a mention as it represents the high quality of wines offered by Wooden Valley across the board.

Serve moderately chilled and enjoy a pleasant bouquet followed by hints of summer fruits – pear, peach and apple. A very crisp and enjoyable wine well suited for sipping with salads and light pasta or on its own on warm summer days.

Wooden Valley Winery Tasting Room

Wooden Valley Winery & Vineyards is a family-owned business located in the Suisun Valley in northwest Solano County, a quick drive east from the City Of Napa. Suisun Valley is a significant growing area that provides grapes for winemakers throughout the broader North Coast AVA that includes wineries and vineyards in Napa, Sonoma, Solano, Marin, Mendocino and Lake Counties. Other local attractions include the Jelly Belly Visitor Center (jelly bean production tours and retail sales available) and regional Budweiser brewery (tours discontinued).

Wooden Valley has a great tasting room, pouring primarily Old World style reds as well as rosé, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and other varietals. Special summer activities include outdoor music and food truck events. Stop in for a friendly sip.
