Ron Rubin Winery 2016 Pinot Gris Russian River Valley Sonoma CountyOur Wine Of The Week is Ron Rubin Winery 2016 Pinot Gris Russian River Valley Sonoma County. Summer is the time for chilled white wines that are light and refreshing. Pinot Gris is a popular competitor with Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio and un-oaked Chardonnay to fit that bill. This Pinot Gris is all that, but from first sip I found this wine more substantial than most. There is a heavy influence of stone fruits – peach and apricot – along with well balanced minerality that makes this Pinot Gris more than light yellow fermented water. If you like Russian River Valley white wines, you’ll notice those influences here.

Great to sip on its own (well chilled), also a great pair for summer salads, fish and light meat dishes. Alcohol is 13.2%. Retails around $20. Wine Enthusiast – 91 points (read their review).

Cheers!
